Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder that primarily affects adolescent girls and young adult females, and is considered to be rare among males. It is estimated that one in 200 adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18 years, the high risk group, develop anorexia nervosa with 90% of those affected being females. However, there has been a steady increase in the reported incidence of male anorectics.

Since educators and counselors can serve a vital role in the early identification of this disorder, the young anorectic male has a better prognosis for recovery if they receive treatment during the early stages.

Elena Mirò is one of the most famous Italian fashion brand, well known because it designs and offers dress for over size women.
She has been the first fashion designer who has organized a  plus size trade show.It happened for the first time ever at the end of September 2006 in Milan.Elena Mirò wanted to show that even not very skinny girl can be famous, model and can be apreciated by others.

Isabelle Caro (Isabelle Caro, a 27-year-old French woman, has battled anorexia for 15 years.)  is very brave to be showing off her body. Most people who suffer from anorexia hide. They end up hiding for so long that by the time they realize that they need help, it’s too late. I think that it’s a good thing that they are trying to bring awareness to this situation. 

        

Usually stars behaviors’ have an influence on many young people.Today thinness means beauty, beauty means work for this reason actresses, models, celebrities impose them self to be thin.

Press, TV and cinema broadcast this standard of beauty and a lot of girls do everything to follow it.

Last week I interviewed 2 students about anorexia and plastic surgery.Pamela, is a student at UCSB, who is 23 years old. She agrees about plastic surgery because many people feel bad if they have a defect for example…a big nose she thinks they can use the plastic surgery.She thinks plastic surgery is very popular in America especially in the west.And she thinks the most common operation for the nose and breast.…she did one operation of plastic surgery…the nose. In her body she’d like change her lips.About anorexia, Pamela thinks anorexia, today, is a big problem in many countries. She thinks fashion has caused the spread of anorexia because you can see in every magazine or tv show, beautiful girls with perfect bodies, wearing short skirt stretch trousers. The name of the other student is Jason, he studies at city college and is 21 years old. He disagrees with plastic surgery but he thinks many girls undergo plastic surgery, especially in the USA are very common all kinds of plastic surgery and he never had plastic surgery. 

 

What is  Anorexia

 Anorexia is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes an eating disorder characterized by low body weight and body image distortion with an obsessive fear of gaining weight. Individuals with anorexia often control body weight by voluntary starvation, purging, vomiting, excessive exercise, or other weight control measures, such as diet pills or diuretic drugs. It primarily affects adolescent females all over the world, however approximately 10% of all afflicted are male. Anorexia nervosa is a complex condition, involving psychological, neurobiological, and sociological component.

What is Plastic Surgery?
